In 1994 the EMS agency established an Injury Prevention unit devoted strictly to addressing childhood injuries, and fatalities in Riverside County. Since then, injury prevention has implemented many programs with grants received from the state office of traffic safety, state office of health services, state emergency medical services authority, and local community organizations.
Programs we offer include car seat safety, pedestrian / bicycle safety, and teen impaired driving. In addition, we offer information on home safety, water and pool safety, and suicide prevention for teens.
Very recently injury prevention has branched out as a separate entity within the Riverside County Department of Public Health, and continues to serve our residents by educating the public on preventing injuries and death to children in our county.
